Common beauty problems and their fixes

Zit, acne, pimples, blisters, hair fall, and much more. We all have those annoying beauty troubles that never seem to go away. Plus, we are constantly exposed to damage caused by bad lifestyle habits, pollution, the sun, and dirt. But, before you hit drug stores looking for a fix, check your kitchen or medicine cabinet to get some easy and efficient home remedies. Here, we bring to you some how-tos to solve your common beauty problems.

  1.   Acne

As we reach puberty, acne becomes one of the most common beauty problems that affect everyone. The most common types are whiteheads and blackheads. They are usually seen on the face, but they can also appear on the arms and the back. The easiest way to get rid of acne is the popular home ingredient for skincare, Aloe Vera. It contains polysaccharides and gibberellins that get rid of the bacteria responsible for causing acne. It improves the appearance of the skin, soothes irritation, fights inflammation, and helps the skin to repair itself. All you need is 3 drops of tea tree oil and 2 tbsp of Aloe Vera gel. Mix both the ingredients until you get a homogeneous cream. Use this mixture to clean the affected areas. Spread it on your face and leave it on for about 20 minutes before washing it off. This is one of the best beauty fixes for getting rid of Acne.

  1.   Dry skin and cuticles

Dry skin becomes a major issue in the summer. Dry skin can cause itchiness, but scratching it can further make it worse. Dry skin can benefit from a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil and 5 tbsp of sugar in the juice. Use your hands or a loofah to gently apply the mixture on your skin. The alpha-hydroxy fruit acid present in lemon helps loosens the glue that keeps the dead skin cells together. The sugar cleanses the pores and increases cell turnover. It acts as a gentle Exfoliator. Vitamin E present in olive oil nourishes the skin. To get rid of the dry cuticles, take a small dollop of your hand cream with a few drops of coconut oil. Rub this mixture generously over each of your cuticles. Use plastic gloves for 10 minutes for enhanced benefits.

However, if you don’t want to go through the whole ordeal or making your own home remedy, you can try the Pilgrim Shea & Cocoa Body Butter that will melt straight into your skin, lock in the moisture, and give you radiant skin.

  1.   Stained teeth

Having yellow teeth can indeed ruin your perfect smile. There are many teeth whitening products and options available in the market, but why go for the expensive options when you can get sparkling white teeth at home. Just add 1 tsp of water in 2 tsp of baking soda. Put this mixture on your toothbrush and brush thoroughly. Brush twice a week using this paste. It will remove the stain and polish your teeth. Don’t try this daily as it can be harsh on the tooth enamel.

  1.   Frizzy hair

Frizzy hair can indeed be a real bummer. Use a heat protection serum before you blow-dry your hair to fight the frizz. Hold the dryer in the downward direction so that there is no unwanted frizz. Use a hydrating shampoo in winter and take a deep-conditioning treatment once a week. Try a leave-in conditioner if your hair is extremely dry and frizzy.

  1.   Skin spots

Skin spots are caused by two reasons- hormonal changes and frequent sun exposure. These spots can occur on the face or any other part of the body. All you need is a simple, naturally exfoliating and lightening treatment that will not only remove impurities and dead skin cells, but also change the natural tone of the skin. Take a lemon, 1 tbsp of olive oil, and 3 tbsp of sugar. Mix all the three ingredients. Apply this mixture on all the affected areas and gently massage it before taking a bath. Leave the mixture on for about 10 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. Just make sure that you don’t get your skin exposed to the sun during the whole application as it will do more harm to your skin. Use sunscreen daily to protect your skin.   1.   Chapped lips

The excess dryness in the summer can result in chapped lips. They are not only unattractive but are also painful. To fix this, you need brown sugar and a wet washcloth. Gently massage this mixture onto your lips using a circular motion. Moisturize your lips using coconut oil. Also, you can try mixing ½ tsp of honey and 1 tsp of olive oil. Apply this mixture for a lip treatment that will leave your lips softer and smoother than ever. 

  1.   Ingrown hair

Ingrown hair can be irritating and embarrassing. To get rid of these, take ½ tsp of lukewarm water and add 4 aspirin tablets. Add 1 tsp of honey and make a paste. Apply this paste for 10 minutes on the affected area and rinse it off with warm water. The salicylic acid present in aspirin acts as a gentle Exfoliator. Its anti-inflammatory properties reduce the swelling. However, this treatment is not meant for people with sensitive skin.

  1.   Puffy eyes

Puffy eyes can be caused by the excessive consumption of alcohol, crying for too long, lack of sleep, stress, hormone changes, and allergies. A cool shower can cause the blood vessels to constrict, reducing swelling and redness. A frozen pack of veggies or just a small plastic bag of ice on your eyes for 15 minutes will speed up the process. Keep your head elevated by sleeping on two pillows to reduce under-eye puffiness.
